Kinja'd!!!

Gonna have to swap my tires this week, I guess. I live in the bottom right corner of the Indianapolis square, so it’s gon’ be good.

I still can’t believe you people have more than 1 set of tires. Where the fuck do you even keep them. How the fuck to get them on and off....complete insanity.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m just gonna let my freak flag fly.

P.S. colts suck.

You keep them anywhere there’s room, in the garage or storage room mostly. And it’s pretty simple, just jack one side of the car, swap wheels, repeat for the other side, and then put the other set of wheels in storage.

Having two sets of wheels and tires gives you piece of mind because you don’t have to worry about how terrible the weather is, you just get in your car and go. I’m from the same area as OP and deliver pizzas during college breaks, so running a dedicated set of snow tires in the winter is great when you’re driving 100+ miles a night with snow on the ground.

Meh. I’m not from too far from there....I’m pretty sure the city I went to college in is on that map..... I will swear to you right now, there wasn’t enough space in my dorm room freshman year for four sets of tire. NOT TO FUCKIONG MENTION you’re buying two sets of rims?

Kinja'd!!!

That’s even more expensive than the god damned tires. It’d be cheaper just to buy a second car with all wheel drive....

I have mentioned this “snow tires” concept to other people in my family....all whom live north of the Mason Dixon line..,...we think you’re all insane.

I’m going to be really upset if I go to PRI Friday and there’s snow, but none back home in Buffalo. We broke a super old record by not having any snowfall yet.

The weather predictions are nuts, one day it’s supposed to be cold and snowy, the next it’s warm and rainy.

Purdue/Laffy checking in: probably better off with broom wheels than snow tires for this little dusting we’ll get.

All in all a set of steelies and tires is less than $700 if you shop at the right places (or free if they came with the car like mine did) and they’ll last you for 5+ years so it’s not like you’re breaking the bank. That being said I’ll agree storage is kind of awkward at school, I had to stack my wheels in the corner of my bathroom since my closet is too small and my landlord won’t let me use the basement storage area of my apartment building. Makes for interesting conversations for people who come over to my place for the first time.

And your family must be different than mine, most of my mom’s side of the family live in upstate New York and all but a few of them have a winter set of wheels and tires. It’s probably overkill here in north-central Indiana but again, a winter set will handle inclement weather better than any all-season so for someone who drives a lot at night in shitty conditions it’s worth it.

I think the last time it snowed here in Orange County (California) was back in the 60’s or something. In fact, I could probably drive around with racing slicks here with how little rain we have got in the last two years.

I think I might have just given myself an idea...

it’s more like i just refused to buy a rwd car. but since most cars are fwd it wasn’t difficult.

Yeah also, I have zero desire to drive around in circle man.

Says the person who can’t drift.

Also circles are just easy to capture in photo, when you string corners together just right .... them feels. And ya know, the whole enjoying the commute instead of hating it thing, helps.
